Eccleshall Community First Responders launch new response vehicle

Eccleshall CFRs new response vehicle launch

Eccleshall Community First Responders officially launched their new response vehicle at a community event held at The Royal Oak in Eccleshall on Saturday 4 July 2026.

The new Hyundai Tucson hybrid represents an investment of approximately £40,000 and has been funded through a combination of generous donations from the local community and support from the National Lottery. The vehicle will help our volunteer responders continue supporting the ambulance service across Eccleshall and the surrounding villages.

The vehicle carries a range of emergency equipment, including a defibrillator, patient-monitoring equipment, a medical response bag, suction equipment and essential vehicle-safety equipment. This allows our responders to provide early assessment and treatment when they are dispatched to appropriate emergency calls by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The launch provided an opportunity to thank the individuals, organisations and local residents whose support made the new vehicle possible. Members of the community were also able to meet the responders, view the vehicle and learn more about the work of the group.

Eccleshall Community First Responders currently has five active responders, with a further three volunteers progressing through training. The team supports Eccleshall and nearby communities within an approximate eight-mile radius, attending calls when available and when tasked by the ambulance service.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated, supported fundraising activities or helped the group in any way. As a volunteer-led organisation, this continued community support is essential and enables us to maintain our vehicle, replace equipment and continue providing a potentially lifesaving service within the local area.

The launch marked an important milestone for the group, and we look forward to putting the new vehicle into service for the benefit of Eccleshall and the surrounding communities.
